A trip to Givat HaMoreh in the footsteps of the Nazareth Iris

Green along the way to the Jezreel Valley. Clusters of mustard flowers dot the landscapes with a striking yellow. Some of us met for morning coffee in a café and some of us went straight to Kfar Dahi. The route began with a forested ascent towards the observation tower. Along the trail we watched the flowering of anemones and other flowers of different colors. Butterflies ran around and enjoyed the blooms as well.

We went up to the observation tower for a spectacular 360-degree view. From here you can see Afula, the Gilead Mountains and Ramot Issachar, the Beit She'an Valley and the Gilboa, Northern Samaria, the Jezreel Valley, Ramat Menashe and the Carmel, the Oak Hills and the Nazareth Mountains, the Tabor and the Upper Galilee Mountains. After Amit's explanations and jokes that added to the good mood, we went down and joined the forest trails, enjoying the sights of the many blossoms.

The walk in the forest ended and we reached a route exposed to the sun. We took a group photo and continued along a path that passes through a rocky meadow exposed to the sun, where the flowers of the Nazareth Iris grow. We had to look for the irises because they bloomed alone among the many blooms. But after we found the first flower under a sign, we found more and more flowers as we walked through the area.

The flower is large, very impressive and very stunning. The outer perianth leaves are yellowish and dotted with purple-brown dots. The inside of them is filled with dark velvety spots. The inner perianth leaves are almost white. Their veins are brown and have purple-brown dots on them.

We went up and reached the middle of a cliff, where we found a place to sit in the shadow of the mountain. Delicious cakes were served with hot tea and other delicacies. After resting and "recharging" ourselves, we continued climbing between the rocks exposed to the sun. We admired the beautiful clusters of pink hairy flax flowers and white common chamomile flowers.

We returned to the forest on the other side, again among the many blooms and met horses and dogs. We ended the trip at the excellent "Sahara Palace" restaurant in Nein village.
